I found the piano Billy Joel played in 1972 at "the bar" in Piano Man
Roy, together with his wife Jill, used to own and manage the Executive Room in Los Angeles - the bar Billy Joel played at in 1972 and wrote the song Piano Man about.
And they still have the piano!
John at the bar? Davy in the navy? Paul the real estate novelist? Roy and his wife Jill knew them all.
We talked about the characters in the song and history of the Executive Room, Roy played a few notes on the piano and we spoke about getting it tuned, PLUS a possible visit from me to play Piano Man in celebration of the song's 50th anniversary.

It's been SO long since I started this project and recorded some guide vocal tracks in the spare bedroom at home. Today we're replacing these guide vocals with the REAL THING. Recording vocals took two days in the studio, plus another two recording backing vocals, which you'll see in the next episode. Stay tuned!

In THIS episode of my vlog we do a shoot with photographer Brayden Smith for my EP artwork and get a little intimate with a few shirtless snaps. It's also another day in the studio, the first recording bass and guitars. Took a little longer than expected, so we've got another session coming up to finish them off.

Very interesting that this information has surfaced. It would be interesting to see if a piano technician is able to restore it. It wasn't mentioned in the interview which brand of piano it is. Would be interesting to dive into this. There is probably a serial number under the lid that might give clues to when the piano was built as well.
